Description

Hells Gate is a 9-hole course located on Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho.  The course is located next to the Snake River and has great views of Swallows Peak and the canyon.  The course is relatively short but can be challenging if you throw off of the fairway due to tall grasses and underbrush in some areas.  There are also tee signs for a back nine that use the preexisting baskets.   It is very likely that you will encounter wildlife while playing the course.  Deer, geese, osprey, rabbits, and snakes can be found while playing; I've even seen several owls the last couple times I've been there.  Foot traffic is minimal.   Once again, the course is located on a state park, so there is a $5 day-use fee for anyone that doesn't have a park pass for the state of Idaho.  All gate fees go directly to the park and is used to upkeep the park.  The visitor center has discs available for purchase.
