Description
1000 Acres Ranch Disc Golf Course is a converted ball golf course in northeastern New York on private land within the Adirondack Park. In 2021 it was open to the public free of charge. The resort which owns the course reportedly plans to add finishing touches (permanent tee pads, better signs, etc.) and begin charging fees sometime in 2022. Even without those improvements, however, the course is a pleasure to play, with dry and level natural tees (one long and one shorter) on each of the 18 holes. The course layout is quite scenic, lying between the Adirondack foothills and the winding upper Hudson River. Most holes are fairly open, although with abundant ornamental trees. About 1/3 of the holes have water hazards, which are scenic but not intimidating, depending on how daring a route you choose. Even without restrooms or benches, it is one of the more “civilized” courses in the area, easy to use carts, thanks to its location on a previous golf course. The long tees (par 60) are between 235 and 580 feet, and the short ones (par 55) are between 165 and 325 feet (all but two are under 300 feet).
