Description

Farragut State Park - NorthStar is a full-length 4994ft, par 54 18 hole course, well suited to moderate and advanced players. Several light elevation changes, holes that have curves either left or right, blind-shots to well hidden baskets, creative use of guardian trees, and long fairway shots with hazards to both sides make for a great course that will challenge many if not most players. There are several baskets with wide-open fairways that allow you to bring out your distance drivers and let rip, however a majority of holes will call for skilled navigation with either a control driver, or a mid-range, and creative use of hyzer and an-hyzer shots in order to stay out of the thick woods. This course certainly challenges scramble skills, as any shot that goes into the woods is likely to cost you dearly due to the numerous small trees dotting the landscape... beautiful yet deadly. The holes are well placed, and the paths are easily navigable which makes for several great small hikes in between each hole. The course is well laid out and uses a great back and fourth path that allows you to see most of the sights from several angles simply by playing through the course. Several elevated baskets, baskets with groves of guardian trees, and creative use of hills make every hole feel unique and a real joy to play again and again as you find new and interesting ways to navigate the course.   Original description: Incorporates lots of trees and elevated pins on mainly level terrain. A variety of throws needed to score well. Discs, bags, and maps at Visitor Center. Sturdy shoes recommended. State park motor vehicle entrance fee applies.
