Description

This is an 18 hole kids and beginner course with a 9 hole fast-play option. The course is located just West of the NorthStar course in Farragut State Park located in Athol, Idaho. The course is listed as a Par 2/3 (Par two for experienced players and a par 3 for newer players).   The course starts off with a very open shot into an elevated basket in a rock pile, then has a few more straight shots along the road before turning right and entering the woods. At hole 5, you are given the option to continue along the 18 hole course by going left, or you can go right and play a unique hole that then links back up with hole 15 to create the shorter 9 hole course.  Creative use of guardian trees, slight turns, and hills makes for a course that is challenging for new players, but still entertaining for experienced players who wish to go for a putter-only or mid-range round. This course is a great way to practice putter up-shots and even go for some aces if you are so inclined.    Newer players enjoy the fact they can actually still complete the holes without having massive numbers of shots, but still have to use creativity and use proper technique to good effect.   Overall, this is a very well designed small course, playable in about 20 minutes alone, and no more than an hour with a sizable group of newer players. This course is an excellent place to introduce people to the game and get them some vital experience before moving onto a full-size course.
