Description
Forsyth Disc Golf Course is a beautiful, challenging, and fun newly-designed (2015) course. The course has one set of tee boxes, but there are two distinct layouts: Gray for intermediate players and Blue for advanced players. The difference between the layouts is the basket. There are 18 gray baskets on the course, which for the most part, are shorter, more accessible, have more clearance from the hazards, and are overall easier. There are 5 blue baskets (one each on holes #5, #9, #12, #13, and #16). There is also an extended blue tee box for hole #13. Forsyth DGC may not be the best place for beginners due to the many tight tee shots and water hazards. There is a meandering creek which comes into play on several holes and there is a small lake that comes into play on holes #12 and #13. Also, the pedestrian/bike paths are played as OUT OF BOUNDS on several holes. Even though the disc golf course may not be beginner or family friendly, the rest of Forsyth Park is extremely family friendly. The disc golf course is but one of the many draws of the park as a whole. At the main pavilion there is plenty of free parking. Throughout the entire park there are several clean and well-stocked restrooms, and functional water fountains. Also, in addition to the course and the aforementioned bike/pedestrian trail, there are several baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a playground for the rug rats, several sheltered picnic areas, outdoor grills, a small stage with a natural grass amphitheater, and a wooden gazebo by the lake off hole #13, perfect for sunsets.
